Become an installer

No fees. No territories. No catch.

Official installers use Chameleon kits and get listed on our site. Independents run our free firmware on their own lights. Either way, we handle app support.

We install too. We do local installs in the Florida panhandle, so call or text (850) 393-1519 when you’re stuck on a job.

What an official job pays

You set the price. Here’s a typical 100 ft job.

Most installers charge $20–$30 per foot. A 100 ft kit costs about $1,200.

A full kit includes the customer’s Lifetime plan; kit price is before shipping. Sales tax: a service install usually isn’t taxed, but check your state. Use 2 people for running lights, charge extra for pool enclosures, and consider a military discount.

Why customers get a plan

Your customer stops calling you in November

In November they want orange and gold turned into red and green, can’t remember how, and call you. With a plan, holidays are picked once at handover and change on their own every year.

What changes for you

  • Accent lighting that follows sunset — never on in daylight, never late
  • Game days that follow the real schedule, re-synced nightly
  • “Can you come turn it off?” stops being a call
  • The whole household controls it from their own phones
  • A house lit for every holiday is your marketing on that street

Licensing and responsibility. The system is low voltage: the controller plugs into an ordinary outlet and everything after it is 24 VDC. Some U.S. locations may still require a low-voltage license — check yours.

The installer, not Chameleon, is responsible for the work, carries their own insurance and assumes all risk.

Installer questions

Codes, licensing and handover details: training.

Do I need to be certified or trained?

No certification and no training session. The free installer training page shows how our parts go together.

Does it cost anything to become an installer?

No. The firmware, app and listing are free. We list official installers once they’ve bought a kit; independents need no sign-up.

Do I have to use your lights or controller?

Official installers use our kits and materials (partial kits and à la carte are fine). Independents run the free firmware on their own hardware (what it runs on) but aren’t listed on our website.

Who answers my customers’ app questions?

We do, for every customer, official or independent. Your job ends when the lights are up and working.

What do I actually pay you?

As an official installer, you buy the kit — about $1,200 for 100 ft, with the customer’s Lifetime plan included — and charge whatever you like (what a job pays). As an independent, nothing — or $149.99 per customer if you choose to cover their Lifetime plan (handover options).
